Stadium Stomp GABBA takes stair climbing and endurance events to a whole new level. It's Australia’s ultimate stair climbing challenge where participants climb up, down and around the stairs within the GABBA stadium bays, traversing literally thousands of stairs along the way before running a full lap of the ground to finish. See the GABBA in a whole new light and brace yourself for this amazing challenge.

About the stadium:

The GABBA is a 42,000 seat stadium and is located at Woolloongabba just two kilometres from the Brisbane CBD, making this event easy to get to. For transport options please click here and scroll down to Transport and Car Parking.

Fundraising is encouraged:

We encourage all our participants to fundraise for charity.  You may choose your own charity or our preferred charity in Mater Little Miracles.  You can read about them here. Fundraising is not mandatory but a great way to make every step count.


 The Course

The GABBA course

This event is open to all levels of fitness.  There will be rest stops along the way, drink stations scattered throughout the course and music to keep you going.

Full Course - The estimated number of steps for the full course (1.5 laps) is approximately 5,000 steps and will take anywhere from 40 minutes to 90 minutes to complete depending on your fitness level. The full course will comprise of 2 laps of level 4 and one lap of level 2 before running a full lap of the oval to finish.

Half Course - There is no half course option for Stadium Stomp GABBA

What to watch out for:

It's a concrete jungle out there!  As with all our stadiums, The GABBA course is full of twists and turns.  Stairs will vary in height, width, gradient and the number of stairs per aisle depending on where you are climbing in the Gabba. Be careful, extra care is required with descent so please pay attention to signage, course marshals and our stomping rules.

The steepest part of the climb will be in the upper decks (level 4).  Level 2 will be the easiest part of the course with a milder gradient and wide, shallow steps.

Volunteer at Stadium Stomp GABBA

Being a Volunteer at Stadium Stomp is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in the many different aspects of sports and event management all whilst working at one of Australia's most iconic sporting venues, the Gabba.

As event organisers, we recognise that volunteers are a crucial part of the smooth running and success of the event and we sincerely appreciate everyone who is willing to be involved with Stadium Stomp. 

With various jobs available from start-line and course marshalling, registrations, set up / pack down, runners, water stations and information desk, there is sure to be a job for you! You will be able to indicate the area that you are most interested in on the application form.

As a Stomp Volunteer you will receive the following benefits^:

Event Day Information

Below is some "at a glance" information to help your event day run smoothly. Full details are available in the Event Day Information Booklet here.

Please note: All Stadium Stomp Gabba participants are required to sign a printed copy of the Terms & Conditions and bring it with them before collecting their participant bib. To save delay on the day, download a copy here

The Start/ Arriving
Access will be available from 6:00am Wave times begin from 7:00am event day. New waves will commence every 15 minutes thereafter until 10:30am.  Please arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your wave time to allow time for race bib collection, baggage check in etc. However, you do not need to be at the marshalling area until 15 minutes prior to your wave starting.

Where do I go on arrival?
Please make your way to Gate 2 upon arrival.  From here you will easily be able to navigate to the registration area (to collect your bib kits), marshalling area and start line.

Warm-up zone

If you would like to warm up your body before the stomp ahead, a warm up area with some stationary bikes will be located inside Gate 1. There will also be a team of trainers on hand to run you through a quick warm up before you stomp.

Wave time assembly/ Marshaling area

Please enter the marshaling area no earlier than 15 minutes before your wave time commences.  Your bib number will indicate to us which wave time you should be in and our MC will be on load speaker to call up each wave time to the marshaling area as required. Listen out for these.

Pre-event day bib and t-shirt collection (option - you can collect on the day)

Pre-event bib collection will be available at the venue, via Gate 2 at the ticket collection booths at the below time:

  • Friday 22 July, 2016 - 11:00am - 3:00pm.

You may also collect on event day from here but be sure to allow extra time for this. All bib kits and t-shirts must be collected by the individual participants.  Multiple bib collection will only be permitted with the expressed written consent of the participant(s) who has/have requested collection of their bib by another individual. This can be done though email, SMS or some other identifying factor which clearly displays the origin of the message to include the participants name. 

If you ordered an Official Stadium Stomp t-shirt, these will also be available for collection by the above means. T-shirts are not being posted.

Bag Compound

There will be a bag compound available if you wish to use these.  Look out for signage on the day and be sure to collect your race bib first as you'll need the tag from your bib to place on your bag.

Transport and car parking
There is no public car park within the stadium, however, signed parking is available in surrounding streets. For public transport, the Woolloongabba Bus Station is located adjacent to the ground (on Mains Rd). Your closest train station to the venue is Park Rd. As you finish
You'll get to complete a lap of the Gabba boundary line before exiting the course.
 Please climb with care.

Post event extras

Massage will be available for participants post climb thanks to The Australian Institute of Fitness.  A number of massage tables will be available on a first in best dressed basis.

Event Day Expo

Participants, family and friends are welcome to wander through the event day Expo. Sausage sizzle will be available and run by our Charity Partner, Mater Little Miracles. 

Event Photos

Official event photographs will be taken by Super Sport Images on the course and at the finish line.  These will be available for purchase post event via their website  (  Allow a couple of days post event for these to become available.

Event Day Food

There will be a coffee van supplying muffins available for purchase and a sausage sizzle provided by Mater Little Miracles.  It is recommended you bring a snack with you to refuel.


Spectators will be allowed FREE entry to the Gabba (subject to the Gabba's entry conditions).  A designated seating area is assigned for spectators. Enter via Gate 2.
