Hitting the stairs for fitness is one thing, but doing Stadium Stomp for the greater good, well that’s taking your fitness goal and turning it into a driver for change, a positive force that’s bigger than you. We’re talking about raising money for charity and making your stomp experience a more fulfilling one.

It’s very easy to ignore the fundraising message or to say “I don’t have the time,” or “I won’t be able to raise enough to make it matter,” but that’s simply not true. Setting up a fundraising page is ridiculously easy and all charities are grateful for whatever you can raise.

So if you’re about to dismiss fundraising for Stadium Stomp, we encourage you to read on, first:

What were you doing at age seven?

Imagine being just seven years old and being told you have a life threatening blood disease. How do you even process that at seven? It’s more than any child should have to contemplate, right? Imagine being the family of this seven year old child and not only living with the stress that this disease could take the life of your precious, beautiful child but also having to uproot your lives to move closer to life-saving treatment that’s hours away from home, plus coping with the financial strain that comes with it all.

It’s hard to imagine, but this was reality for seven year old Jordyn and her family when she was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukaemia. Jordyn should have been out playing with friends and living a carefree life. Instead, her family had to move from Bendigo to Melbourne for life-saving and lengthy treatment. Thankfully, the Leukaemia Foundation stepped in and provided Jordyn and her mother Jayne with a fully furnished, two-bedroom apartment in the CBD to call home for as long as they needed.

Today Jordyn is a healthy, happy, Year 7 student, enjoying long distance swimming and netball. And last year, Jordyn’s Mum, Jane, stomped her way around the country, participating in all four Stadium Stomp events raising money for the very organisation that helped save her daughter’s life.

Jordyn’s story is one example, but every day 35 more Australians are told they have blood cancer. Raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation (Stadium Stomp’s 2019 Charity Partner) will ensure they can continue their dedication to helping those with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other related blood disorders survive and then live a better quality of life.

How to start making a difference

Creating a fundraising page and supporting the Leukaemia Foundation, or any other charity you’re passionate about is just a couple of clicks away.

Go on, make Stadium Stomp something more than a stadium stair climb and a physical challenge. Fundraise to support. Fundraise to make a difference. Fundraise today and make every one of those thousands of stairs you’ll climb count for something bigger.
