Melbourne Cricket Ground

The MCG was built in 1853 and is visited by more than three million people annually. It boasts a total seating capacity of 100,024, making the MCG Australia’s largest sporting stadium.

It’s hosted more than 100 test matches (the first in 1877) and VFL/AFL Grand Finals and was the main stadium to the 1956 Olympics and the 2006 Commonwealth Games. It’s also hosted other spectacles including World Cup soccer qualifiers, Rugby League home and away matches and State of Origin, Bledisloe Cup Rugby Union, Austral Wheel Races and a swag of blockbuster concerts featuring the world’s biggest musical acts.

It also houses the National Sports Museum, Australia’s only dedicated multi-sports museum.

The MCG is just a short tram ride from the Melbourne CBD making it very easy to get to for sporting fans and stompers alike.
